"We are looking right now at the best path forward to create a permanent pathway for temporary residents," said Immigration Minister Sean Fraser during the interview at CBC's The House.
In 2021, IRCC accepted 84,177 applications in the three different streams through the Temporary Resident to Permanent Resident Pathway (TR to PR): health care workers, essential & non-health care workers, and recent international graduates from a Canadian institution. The new program under development will not be identical with the previous pathways but the minister mentioned that temporary foreign workers as well as international students would be the focus for the policy. He added that he's working under a tight 120-day timeline based on a motion approved by the Commons last month.

Who Will Be Benefited?
With the current unemployment being 5.1%, the lowest ever, the Canadian economy would be devastated if foreign temporary workers were to leave the country; therefore, those who are already employed in Canada would be benefited through this new policy. In addition, former international students who have a job are ready to be integrated into Canadian society. Extending their PGWP is all a part of the IRCC's intention to keep them here.
What should you prepare?
English score: Getting over CLB 5 (CEC & TR to PR 2021)
